  • Addition and subtraction of Fractions
  • Multiplication and division of Fractions

The uses and applications of a decimals, percentages, averages and ratios:

  • What are decimals
  • Addition, subtractions, multiplication and divisions of decimals
  • Changing decimals to percentages and fractions
  • What is a percentage
  • Ratio and Proportion

The uses of Standard International Units (SI Units):

  • Fundamental definitions
  • Base units and derived units

Basic algebra, areas, volumes and graphs:

  • What is algebra?
  • Areas of flat shapes
  • Volumes
  • Pie Charts
  • Line graphs
  • Straight Line graphs

Basic distribution and frequency:

  • Relative frequency

Course Content

Aim:
This unit aims to give learners knowledge of basic maths used in the process industry.

Pre-Requisites:
None required.

Duration:
The course is 2 days in duration.

Optimum Number:
A maximum of 6 delegates per course.

PowerPoint slides & manuals, practice questions and assessment.


Learning Outcomes, on completion of this unit a learner should:
  • Gain an understanding of the purposes and uses of Integer Operations and fractions.
  • Gain an understanding of the use and applications of decimals, percentages, averages and ratios.
  • Gain an understanding of the use of Standard International Units (SI units).
  • Gain a basic understanding of algebra, areas, volumes and graphs.
  • Gain a basic understanding of distribution and frequency.

Assessment and Certification:

In order to pass this unit, the evidence that the learner presents for assessment needs to demonstrate that they can meet all the learning outcomes for the unit.
A Roxby Certificate will be issued upon successful completion.
