Basic Health & Safety Certificate (CIEH)
Course Content
Aim:
This will provide a good basic all round awareness and understanding of Health & Safety issues and to have proof of an understanding and promotion of safe working practices.
Pre-Requisites:
No prior knowledge of safety legislation is required, although some knowledge may be advantageous.
Duration:
The course will be on one day's duration and can be conducted at Roxby Training's premises or the clients' premises.
Optimum Number:
The optimum number of persons on this course is ten.
Training Aids:
Use will be made of lecture notes, audio-visual presentation and discussion.

- The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
- Introduction to the Act
- Terms 'reasonably practicable'
- Exemptions to the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
- General duties of employers i.e. safety policy, safety representatives and committees, etc.
- Powers granted to H.M. Inspectors of factories
- Improvement and prohibition notices
- Summary and indictable offences committed under the Act
- Civil liability
- The employment medical advisory service
- Overview of other Health & Safety responsibilities under legislation
- The management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1992
- Workplace (Health, Safety & Welfare) regulations 1992
- Provision & use of work equipment regulations 1992
- Health & safety (display screen equipment) regulations 1998
